Problems dropping items... just me? - Guild Wars Forums

I don't mean the recent farming nerf. I mean in general, throughout the entire game, I have had incredibly bad luck dropping items. I mean really, really bad. I'm currently at Ember Light Camp, and I've done almost every single quest up to this point. I was level 20 when I ascended.

And yet, throughout my Guild Wars career, I have dropped *one* rare item. And it was a bow. I am an Enchanter. So I realize that this drop rate definitely meets the requirement for being deemed "rare," but it seems ridiculous that in all my tens of thousands of kills I've only dropped *one* rare item, and it was useless to me. Even when I've done missions (which I've always done with other players, not henchies) I usually never see a gold drop, and I've never seen a gold staff/wand of any kind.

I actually wanted to get into farming just so I could have a chance at dropping something useful, but now it's being nerfed into oblivion and I'm screwed. So is it just me or is the loot system totally muffed up?

*Please note that I'm totally okay with items being rare, I just think that one useless item in a career is way too rare.

I've made 6 PvE chars, all getting to lvl 20, i've only ever gotten 2 golds, and that was 2 minutes apart from eachother on a lvl11 ele in borlis pass.

I dont know what to tell you about this, very odd. I dont get a slew of rares or anything, but I have definately gotten more than I can count. I dont farm either. But Im Irish, so Im entitiled to more rares than other people.

Yeah, that's bad luck, I've had probably 7 or 8 golds and quite a few more purples total in my career with my monk. Sure, they're mostly useless to me, but you can sell them or salvage for runes so no rare drops are completely worthless.

Not farming I've probably only got about 3-4 rares, thats why they're called "rare"

I read something about Arenanet is working to increase general droprates in the 'common' fields of the games. This is part of the anti farm policy: they cab the droppings of highly farmed regions and increase general droppings. This should happen the next weeks. So who knows your amount of rares will be doubled soon

i went to 5 different places today... just to farm... and nothing dropped ... is my character glitched???... tried killing for 30 mins in my favorite farming spots.. and nothing drop .. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING... NOT GOLD.. NOT EVEN A NON-RARE.....

Nope, not bugged. That's just ANet's way of saying: "if you like to solo, wheather you abuse farming or not, haha we screwed you! roffles!!1!"* This is likely a temporary fix until they can come up with a better one. Let's just see what happens.

I was getting worried about all this "stuff not dropping after 3-4 kills" stuff, so i went to test it.

I went to my favorite hunting area (i dont really farm), its an area with ony 3 types of critters, lvl 12,15,17.

I killed all 35+ on the server i was in, got gold, collectors items, or regular drops off EVERY thing i killed, many blues, and 3 purples.

I left the server when I was finished, re-entered and got the same results.

Is it because I took my pet?
or because I didnt server hop every couple of kills?
or does it only apply to higher end monsters?

I want to server hop to test that out, or go without my pet, but dont want to get stuck in the "nothing drops anymore" loop, so no more testing for me.

ok next round of test complete

I zoned in and out 10 x, killing the first 3 monsters on the server and leaving.

I got a drop from every kill, 1 purple, 3 blues.

variables left to test
pets, I used mine for all tests sofar.

map traveling out instead of walking.

doing it in a mission area

doing it somewhere that runes can drop (my spot has no salvage armor)
